DunkSim Privacy Policy
Version: 2.0 · Last Updated: 2026-08-24 · Effective: 2026-09-01
This Privacy Policy explains how BodeSim LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("DunkSim," "we," "us"), collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the DunkSim NBA analytics and simulation service — our website, web app, and mobile apps (together, the "Service"). It is incorporated into our Terms of Service. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Service.
Questions or requests: privacy@bodesim.com.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you register: your email address, username, and a password (stored only as a cryptographic hash — we never store your actual password). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and an account identifier from that provider; we do not receive your Google or Apple password.
Payment information. Payments are processed by our payment partners — Stripe (web), Apple (App Store), and Google (Google Play). We never receive or store your full card number. We retain transaction records (what was purchased, when, amount, and a partner transaction reference) for billing, support, and legal compliance. If you are a creator cashing out earnings, we collect your PayPal email address, used solely for payout processing and reconciliation.
Content you provide. Predictions and written analysis, comments and reactions, saved prediction models and roster scenarios, hypothetical free-agency events, community votes, content reports, and messages you send to support (including our AI support assistant).
Usage and activity data. Simulations you run and their parameters, token transactions, Daily Challenge attempts, subscription tier, feature usage, and prediction accuracy statistics (which power leaderboards, titles, and your personal analytics). We also collect product analytics events — records of in-app actions such as completing a simulation, viewing an upgrade screen, or joining a challenge — associated with an internal account identifier (never your email or name), and crash and performance diagnostics, to understand how the Service is used and to fix problems.
Device and log data. IP address, browser and device type, operating system, timestamps, and error logs, collected automatically when you use the Service, used for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
Cookies and similar technologies. We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to make the Service function. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information above to: provide and operate the Service (running simulations, scoring predictions, computing leaderboards and titles); process payments, subscriptions, token transactions, and creator payouts; display the social features you choose to use (shared predictions, comments, Friend Circles); personalize your experience (your dashboard, weekly recaps, performance analytics); provide customer support, including via an AI support assistant; keep the Service safe (moderation, fraud and abuse prevention, enforcing our Terms); send transactional messages (sign-in, password reset, billing, support replies) and — only with your ability to opt out at any time — promotional and recap emails; comply with legal obligations, including tax reporting on creator earnings; and improve the Service through product analytics (usage events associated with your account's internal identifier, as described in Section 1) and aggregate statistics. We configure our analytics so the data is used only to operate and improve DunkSim — never for advertising or ads personalization.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The Service contains no third-party ads.
3. Where the Service Is Offered
The Service is offered only in supported regions and is not available in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
4. How We Share Information
Service providers (processors). We share information with vendors who process it on our behalf and under contract: Stripe (web payments), Apple and Google (in-app purchases and app distribution), PayPal (creator payouts), Google Cloud Platform (hosting and infrastructure), our email delivery provider Resend, Google LLC (Gemini API, paid tier — our AI provider for the support assistant), and Google LLC (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics — product analytics and crash reporting, operating under Google's data-processing terms, with Google signals and ads personalization disabled so this data is not used for advertising). These providers may use your information only to provide their services to us.
Other users — what's visible. Your username, title badge (if any), shared predictions, comments, and leaderboard entries are visible to other users according to the visibility you choose. Your exact accuracy percentage is visible only to you; other users see only your title. If you purchase a creator's PPV prediction, the creator sees only aggregate unlock counts — never your identity. Blocking a user hides your content from each other both ways.
Third-party tools you authorize. If you create an API key or connect the Service to an external tool or agent platform, that tool can access the DunkSim data your key permits, including your simulations, predictions, and account information. That access is under your control, not ours, and the third party's handling of your information is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. Treat API keys like passwords and revoke any you no longer use.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information when required by law, legal process, or a lawful government request; to enforce our Terms; or to protect the rights, safety, or property of DunkSim, our users, or the public.
Business transfers. If DunkSim is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction; this Policy will continue to apply, and we will notify you of material changes.
Aggregate data. We may share statistics that cannot reasonably identify you (e.g., platform-wide accuracy benchmarks shown in the app).
5. AI Features
Our customer support assistant is powered by third-party large language models. Messages you send to the assistant, along with limited account context needed to answer (such as your subscription tier), are processed to generate replies and may be reviewed by our team to resolve escalations and improve support quality. Support conversations are not used to train third-party foundation models. Our simulation engine processes sports statistics — not your personal information — to generate predictions.
6. Data Retention
Our approach: your data is kept so the product can give you long-term value, and you control deletion.
- Simulations and predictions are retained indefinitely to power your season and career analytics — a core feature of the Service. You can delete individual simulations or entire seasons at any time; deleted simulations disappear from your history immediately and the underlying records are permanently purged within 30 days.
- Predictions are retained permanently as your competitive record. If you delete your account they are anonymized, not deleted (see Section 7).
- Weekly recap cards are automatically deleted after 8 weeks.
- Purchase, payment, and creator-payout records are retained for as long as tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention laws require (7 years), then deleted. After account deletion these records are pseudonymized (see Section 7).
- Support conversations and moderation records are retained as needed for safety, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
- Log data is retained for 90 days for security and debugging, then deleted or aggregated.
- Product analytics events are retained for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
The full user-facing retention policy is available in the app and at https://dunksim.app/data/retention-policy.
7. Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile → Account → Delete Account. Deletion runs immediately and cannot be undone. When you delete your account:
- Your profile, simulations, saved models, and Friend Circle memberships are permanently deleted.
- Your predictions are anonymized, not deleted: all links to your account are permanently removed, the author is shown as a generic deleted-user marker, and the content is no longer associated with you in the Service. This preserves leaderboard integrity for other users.
- Purchase, payment, and payout records are pseudonymized (de-linked from your account; direct identifiers removed or replaced with coded values) and retained only for the legally required period described in Section 6, then deleted.
- Your product analytics history is deleted from our analytics systems (we submit the deletion to our analytics provider and remove the exported records).
- Any active subscription is canceled immediately with no further charges (and no proration of the current period). Your token balance is forfeited as described in the Terms of Service.
8. Your Rights and Controls
Available to everyone, in-app: view a summary of your stored data (Settings → Data); export your simulations and predictions in CSV or JSON; delete simulations individually or by season; delete your account; opt out of promotional emails via Settings → Notifications or the one-click unsubscribe link in any promotional email (transactional emails required for account security cannot be disabled).
Extended to all users regardless of location, as a matter of policy rather than any particular statute: the rights to access, correct, delete, and export your personal data, and to object to marketing communications. Use the in-app tools above or contact us to exercise them.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA) have the right to know, correct, and delete personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA, so there is nothing to opt out of. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a right to limit.
To exercise any right not available in-app, email privacy@bodesim.com from the address on your account (or provide enough information for us to verify you — we verify requests to protect your data). We respond within the timelines required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent where the law provides for one.
9. Security
We protect your information with industry-standard measures: encryption in transit (TLS), password and credential hashing at rest, hashed API keys and rotating session tokens, access controls, and infrastructure hosted on Google Cloud Platform. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — please use a strong, unique password and keep the email account you registered with secure. If a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.
10. Children
The Service is for adults. You must be at least 18 to use DunkSim. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we do not direct the Service to children. If we learn we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact privacy@bodesim.com.
11. International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States and process information on servers located in the United States. The Service is not offered in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
12. Third-Party Services and API Access
If you sign in with Google or Apple, connect the Service to an AI agent platform, or use our developer API, your use of those third-party platforms is governed by their own privacy policies. API keys you create grant access to your DunkSim data to whatever tool holds the key — treat keys like passwords and revoke any you no longer use.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. For material changes we will provide notice (in-app or by email) before the changes take effect, and update the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
